Nanclares y Prieto

Alberto Nanclares and Silvia Prieto

Calicia, Cambados

Alberto Nanclares started what used be known as Bodega Nanclares in 1993 after leaving his job as an economist in Madrid and relocating to Castrelo in Rias Baixas, a tiny costal town in rural Galicia. A 180 degree change in life and profession that he's never regretted. In 2015 he brought along Silvia Pérez, a lab technician with ample viticultural experience. Thus the mutation from Bodega Nanclares to the current Nanclares y Prieto viticultores.

Still based in the small winery attached to the family home of Alberto, Nanclares y Prieto have become well known for their meticulously crafted albariño's of diverging expressions, price points and emphases. The winery has dozens of small parcels all across the Comarca do Salnes in municipalities like Meaño, Sanxenxo, Cambados and O Grove, all located within the Rías Baixas DO.

Alberto and Silvia work mostly under biodynamic principles and currently have a lineup of over 25 wines. Mostly whites of course —this being Galicia— but also a few reds that Silvia has pursued in her now more than 10 years at the winery.
